Healthy Snacks For Children
Healthy snacks for children can be a creative endeavor. Children are a special group of eaters. They have so much energy in their little bodies; we can hardly keep up with them. Meal time is the time to fuel that energy. Children are also always hungry; what to do. We know the easy way to elevate the hunger. But I ask you to consider a better way. This is the time to establish good habits. I wish that were true of tastes, however taste buds are developing and therefore tastes change. What a challenge. Yesterday they liked it, today, not so much.
A way to remedy this is to have a variety of snacks on hand. On hand and a variety snacks is key. Certainly fruits of varying kinds served in different ways. As simple as cutting the fruit in different ways works well. Vegetables served with a low fat dip, maybe yogurt. Again varying the shapes, veggie and dip. Whole grain foods are excellent for fiber and establishing good tastes for later years. Stay away from white flower, go with whole grains. Wheat English Muffins are excellent with peanut butter and jelly or better still apple butter. Water is so important in the human diet and should be the desired request. Fruit juice is ok but has a lot of sugar and generally no fiber. A piece of fruit and a glass of water is ideal. This is the time to start good eating habits. Do it now and you'll be thankful later!
