Here are some interesting healthy snacks to try on all ages...

  • #1 Green Tea Smoothies: Are made with Brewed green tea, brewed longer than usual and chilled. add your favorite canned fruits frozen ahead of time. Combined two or three and add an appropriate low fat yogurt to taste. blend it altogether for a cool delicious drink on a hot summers day.

  • #2 Fruit Smoothies: Are made from fresh fruit combinations plus protein mix, low fat milk or soy milk and add some yogurt. Freeze your fruit before blending. Healthy and filling.

  • #3 Cool Crunchy Yogurt: Start with low fat yogurt add some crushed ice blend till smooth . Then add your favorite healthy snack bar. blend so the bar is a crunchy size. Add more ice to thicken to taste.

  • #4 My friend has some wonderful rhubarb recipes, healthy and not so much.

  • #5 Whole Wheat Crackers: Served with cheese or peanut butter.

  • #6 Apples Or Pears: served with different cheeses. Slice the fruit and slice the cheese. ( my favorite)

  • #7 English Muffin: With cheese and a slice of tomato, Toasted open faced.

  • #8 Bowl of whole grain cereal cold or hot oatmeal with honey when you are cold and need to warm a bit.

  • #9 Blueberry Pancakes: Skip the syrup and use fruit topping instead.

  • #10 Apple Oatmeal Cookies:

    Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup stone ground whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 apple, cored and chopped

    Preheat oven to 375 and grease your cookie sheets while you wait. In a large bowl blend together butter egg honey and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl add the flower,baking soda and cinnamon and blend. Stir into the large bowl used first. Mix in the apples and oats. Drop teaspoons onto sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, let cool.
