Healthy Snacks For Kids - Avoid the Trap of Relying on Unhealthy Fast Food
By Claire Peterson

There are many healthy snacks for kids choices that you can give your children during your busy day to day schedule. Just because you are having a very busy day rushing around from one activity to the next does not mean that you cannot provide your children with healthy snacks. Avoid being caught up in the trap of forgetting to pack healthy snacks and having to resort to purchasing unhealthy fast foods. By careful planning and shopping smartly you will find that not only will you save yourself time but your children will be thanking you for these healthy snack choices too.

When you get a chance make a few batches of bran or blueberry muffins. These can be sealed and frozen ready to take out as needed. Not only are these tasty, healthy treats but they are also very filling. This is the perfect snack to fill a hungry gap. Another hunger busting snack is to make your own pizza. To make it healthy you can use rye flour instead of regular flour. Get your kids involved too. Take them with you to the store and ask them to help you pick out the toppings that they would most enjoy. You can turn it into a family activity and make the pizza together. Cut the pizza into squares and serve in lunch bags accordingly. There should be enough to last a few days.

It is also important that you children eat fruit and vegetables. Try to choose fruit which is easy to snack and does not require a lot of effort to eat. Grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raisins and other dried fruit serve as very popular fruit snacks. Avoid purchasing the sugary coated dried fruit treats which you find in the store as these can be bad for your children's teeth. Peanuts, almonds and cashew nuts are also healthy choices. You can also give your children vegetables in their lunch packs. You can use cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, cucumber wedges and broccoli florets.

These are just a few ideas that you can use to give your children healthy and energizing snacks during a busy day whilst you are on the go.
